There is something nice about a one page website
We have been building more one page websites for clients lately. There is something nice about building an attractive one page online listing for a client.
For the client it is a great way to get online for a low initial cost. It allows them to concentrate on their branding and not have to create pages of content.
A great example of this is the new Capital Renovation site. TayloeGray built this site for a friend’s new company, a Raleigh North Carolina Home and Commercial Renovations company. We also made a single page site for Prissies.com where we used Paypal and the clients image for a boutique sock manufacture.
TayloeGray has another client
We just took over the website for Moore Transportation. They are a specialized hauling trucking company based in Wilmington, NC. Specialized trucking means they haul giant stuff like aircraft fuselages, grain elevators and chicken chillers. Pretty neat stuff.
New website launched: Starling Marine
Just launched a new website, Starling Marine. Starling Marine is your premier source for: yachts for sale in Wilmington, NC, Wrightsville Beach, NC and Morehead City, NC as well as Parker fishing boats, Pursuit fishing boats and Spencer Yachts. Check it out.
What a weekend!
This weekend has been crazy. One of most recent clients had a major online emergency and it has been all-hands-on-deck.
Hip 2 Save is a blog about coupons and saving money that gets 1.9-2.2 million page views per month. Our client was in the middle of a giveaway of 20 $100 Amazon gift cards, to benefit Toys for Tots, and Blogger flagged the site as potential spam and disabled it. This occurred at 1am on Friday morning as the comments on her post climbed over 7000 responses. As of this post the site is still off line. Unfortunately for our client, she hosts her on the domain name hip2save.blogspot.com, which can not be redirected till the site comes back up.
To say that it has been disruptive is an understatement.
You can read about the process on her temporary website if you like. Hip2save.com
Make sure you read the comments, her readers are very loyal.
One interesting good point about this issue is that we have been working with this client for the last two months to complete a new version of the site that we host. The original plan was to launch the site in the first week of January, beta it over Christmas holiday, and we are just pushing that date up. We are finishing it up all this weekend in case the blogger site is not back up on Monday. Hopefully, everything will be fine and we can take the time to finish all the little tweaks for the new site, but if not, we are going for it.
This is something that we are going to write a case study about, that is sure.
New Website Launched: Saturn Capital Management
My new company, TayloeGray, just launched a cool new site. Saturn Capital Management is an actively traded and managed long/short equity fund. Unfortunately, you can see any of the content without being approved as an acreditied investor.
I am going to Internet Summit ’09, so you do not have to. Teaching class at UNCW the next day
I will be teaching a short class on social networks on Nov. 6th at UNCW. The event is open to the public. http://uncwec.org/events/?event_id=15
The day before, I will be attending the Internet Summit in RTP, which is a huge event with a ton of top-tier speakers. My plan is to work on my presentation the evening before and incorporate are much of the material from the Summit as possible. My goal is to capture the highlights and bring them to people who could not make the event.
If you are going to the IS, please let me know, I would love to catch up there.
